Remote working the new normal, it’s a standard of productivity that SME’s will have to adapt to in order to keep your business afloat and prepare for the new normal.

Business is looking anything but normal for many SME’s. Everyone's focus has shifted to what strategies they can put in place in order for your teams to work as efficiently as possible. If you haven’t already thought about it, do a quick tech audit to see which tools you are using to keep the business running, evaluate them, engage with your employees to assess how easy they are to use and how you can better equip them to maximise these.

Whilst you are being cost conscious, weigh up the cost of investing in any missing tools you need to run an effective workforce remotely or upgrade your technology from a free subscription to unlock the functionalities. Ask your teams to complete online training's and up-skill. It will be easy to handle with all the tutorials available online.>

Here are a few tech platforms FCBT recommend’s to help your business:

Google Hangouts – easiest platform to get up and running

Google Hangouts is a natural choice for companies already using Google Cloud services.

Google Hangouts is by far the easiest platform to get your employees onto and hit the ground running. It’s easy to adopt and navigate. You can invite external attendees and your employees to the video conferencing feature, which comes standard.

Microsoft Teams – fully integrated with Office 365

Microsoft Teams is a chat-based collaboration tool that can give your workforce the ability to work together, remotely  and share information via a common space.  You can use cool features like document collaboration, one-on-one chat, team chat, and more.  Microsoft Teams is also fully integrated with many other Office 365 services, such as Skype, SharePoint, Exchange, and Yammer.

Zoom – best video conferencing quality

Zoom is by far, one of the most reliable and high-quality choices for video conferencing. If your team is scattered around the country/ with different levels of reliable Internet connections, Zoom is a good choice. Inviting external parties and large groups is easy and straight-forward.

Record your meetings and share files automatically. If your  SME already has an existing Instant Messaging platform (like Skype for Business) and needs a more specific solution for video conferencing, Zoom might be a good fit.

If you use a task management software, you can assign tasks, monitor processes and progress at the comfort of your home, or on your mobile via apps. You as a business owner can easily assign tasks and monitor all your communication, team deadlines, and project timelines.

Slack is where work happens

Slack is a collaboration hub, where the right people and the right information come together, helping everyone get work done.

Wrike task based tech

Wrike is focuses on the accomplishment of tasks rather than entire projects, and it gives you just enough workflow customisation for your clients to make processes more industry-specific. At the same time, your SME can testWrike using its useful free trial plan.

A little overwhelmed with all the changes? When you have this under control, everything else will be the new normal we will return to. Start the change, be the change. Let’s get back to business.
